The best brewery in Vienna for most people is one that does three things: brews on-site, serves proper Austrian food, and feels like a real local—not a theme pub. So the beer’s actually made there, and the place has been part of the neighbourhood for years. Our Vienna Brewery Guide has the history; here it’s what to look for and where we’d send you.
What we look for
House-brewed lagers (and often Zwickl or seasonal stuff), a menu that fits—schnitzel, goulash, Tafelspitz—and a mix of regulars and visitors who’ve sought the place out. More in traditional brewery Vienna, where to drink beer in Vienna, and our Vienna breweries directory.
Our go-to: Fischerbräu
Fischerbräu in Döbling (Billrothstraße 17) ticks every box. Vienna’s first gasthaus brewery since 1985, so it’s the real thing: Helles, Dunkles, Weihnachtsbock and more, plus Austrian food, a beer garden, and no fuss. Whether you’re into beer or just want a proper meal with a good pint, it’s the place we keep recommending.
Fischerbräu – address & hours
